Engagements = likes + comments + shares + saves. By views = all engagements ÷ all views. By followers = engagements per post ÷ followers.
Paste links, get the numbers
YouTube shares a video’s public counts with other sites through its official API, so you don’t have to copy them. Paste one link per video. The channel’s subscriber count fills in too, unless the creator hides it.
- Views, likes and comments come from YouTube. A creator can hide likes; those count as 0.
- Shares and saves aren’t public on YouTube, so the rate uses likes and comments only.
- Nothing is stored. The link is read once to fill in the form.
Shorts and long videos
Shorts are watched by many people who don’t subscribe, so judge them by views. Long videos are watched mostly by subscribers and get fewer views but more comments. Don’t mix the two in one calculation: enter Shorts with Shorts and long videos with long videos.
Questions
How do you calculate YouTube engagement rate?
By views: (likes + comments) ÷ views. By subscribers: the average likes and comments per video ÷ subscribers.
Does it work with YouTube Shorts?
Yes. Paste the Short’s link, the same as a long video.
Why are likes 0?
The creator has hidden the like count on that video, so YouTube doesn’t share it.
